In 2008 Atlantic Southeast launched our Lasting Impressions For Tomorrow (LIFT) employee volunteer program. I’m part of the employee-based board that helps guide how LIFT gives back to our communities. Although we’ve partnered with various non-profit entities throughout our history, it wasn’t until LIFT that Atlantic Southeast had an organized program through which employees could give back, through volunteerism, to the communities where we work.
Since its launch, LIFT has partnered with eight organizations to collect toys and back-to-school backpacks for kids in need, cut more than 60 inches of hair for children needing prosthetic hair pieces, walked to raise funds for breast cancer research, and helped put a roof over a deserving family’s head.
This year, LIFT responded to the Haitian relief needs by partnering with Soles4Souls to collect new and gently worn shoes for the victims of Haiti earthquakes. Atlantic Southeast people collected more than 40,000 pairs of shoes during the four-week drive – that’s about 36,500 more pairs than the original goal. In 2010, Atlantic Southeast LIFT plans to continue partnering with For the Kid in All of Us, Toys for Tots, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Bert’s Big Adventure, Locks of Love, Soles4Souls, The American Cancer Society and the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
Our Partners page has more information about the organizations we’re proud to partner with.
