Well-trained team? Check. Balloons? Check. Elvis? Check. In Amarillo, Texas (AMA), these are the ingredients for a successful station opening!
Last week, I had the pleasure of being one of the first employees to open Atlantic Southeast’s new ground handled station in Amarillo. The first day of service created quite the fanfare at our airport –balloons decorated the ticket counter and Elvis even made an appearance with the town’s mayor to celebrate the airport’s inaugural Delta Connection flight from Memphis, Tenn.
Our team of 19 employees will work three daily Delta Connection flights between Amarillo and Memphis. The first flight departs Amarillo in the early morning hours at 5:55 a.m., the second at 11:40 a.m. and the third at 3:40 p.m. We have flights arriving from Memphis at 10:48 a.m., 3:05 p.m. and 8:59 p.m.
A special thanks is owed to our City Development, Airport Customer Service Training, Information Technology and Ground Equipment Maintenance teams who spent countless hours preparing our station for its big day. The people on these teams are rock stars!
We look forward to seeing you soon in Amarillo!
