Our Amazing People

Simply put, Karen Whisner is a people person, and that’s a character trait that suits her well working as a customer service agent at ExpressJet’s Newport News, Va. station.

Karen first discovered her love for the aviation industry after attending her sister’s graduation from flight attendant training at another airline in the 1990s.

“From the moment I saw my sister graduate, I knew this was the business I wanted to be in,” Karen said.

Soon after, she landed her first airline job in Norfolk, Va., where she worked for a year-and-a-half before transferring to the ExpressJet team in Newport News.

“I enjoy everything about my job,” she said. “I love interacting with passengers and coworkers, and working at the ticket counter, gate and out on the ramp. There’s really nothing I don’t enjoy here.”

Like all ExpressJet agents, Karen is cross utilized to work above wing (customer facing in the airport) and below wing (on the ramp), but no matter where she’s working, the passenger is her top priority.

“I treat all passengers the way I would like to be treated, whether I’m helping someone with a seat assignment, or loading their bags with extra care on the plane. It’s just the right thing to do.”
