Unaccompanied Minors

Young Travelers ages of 8 to14—who aren’t traveling on the same flight as their legal guardian or an escort over 18—are considered to be flying alone and will be treated as unaccompanied minors.

Travelers under 8 years of age will not be accepted as unaccompanied and must travel with an adult. There is a $50 service charge for single-plane service of an unaccompanied minor.

We want to be sure our youngest customers get where they’re going safely and stress-free. So we’ve created some rules to make sure young travelers travel well:

Drop off
Young travelers traveling alone as defined above must be brought to the airport by a parent, legal guardian or accompanying adult who will make sure they get on the plane safely.
You’ll need to bring some kind of documentation that says a grown-up on the other end will be waiting for the child at their final destination. We just want to make sure young travelerswho fly ExpressJet stay safe.
Restrictions
Sometimes, for their own safety, it’s not a good idea to let young travelers travel alone. With that in mind, please note these instances in which you cannot send a young traveler on an ExpressJet flight unaccompanied:
  • When the flight is leaving between 9pm and 5am
  • When the itinerary includes a connection, through flight or one stop

We have families too; let’s work together to ensure that our young travelers get where they’re going with as little risk and hassle as possible.
